Right now, somewhere on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, the town of Barranquilla is kicking off with the second biggest Carnival party in all of South America. After Rio, this is the place to be for the festivities, with a four day shindig, thousands of people getting no sleep, floats, bands, dancers, and everything else in between. I’m sitting on a couch in a hostel in Medellin. Still. And you know what? I love it.
Tigers Paw hostel is a comfortable place, with probably the best beds I’ve slept in since leaving home. The food is good, the happy hour bar busy, and the staff are friendly. They know exactly what they’re doing. It’s no wonder I’ve stayed here as long as I have. I spend a quiet Friday night with some films, music and my own thoughts. Trust me it wasn’t all that bad.
