Here goes nothing. Nerves rattling around my body I take the short walk to my school. In the morning I find myself helping with the English class. I have the pleasure of reading to the children, and then helping them with their work. Some of them already have an excellent grasp of English, which makes it pretty easy for me to communicate with them. It’s a real pleasure to finally be getting involved. These kids are mixed ages, with this class being around eight to ten. It’s a lot of fun, and I’m buzzing for the rest of the day.
Scary times ahead. Spanish. One on one. Sergio is my tutor, a really nice local guy who thankfully speak perfect English. He eases me into the lessons, as I wanted, rather than just start speaking Spanish at me. After four hours, my brain is totally fried, but I retire to my hostel much happier than I have been recently. This is going to be a real challenge for me, but one that I will meet head on, and with a bit of luck, my fear will be replaced with competence.
In the evening I eat a lovely dinner with some hostel friends I’ve made. One of whom is a particularly nice girl I’ve taken a shine to. For some reason the feeling appears to be mutual. I’ve had a couple of very successful days. Epic win.
Yo apredno español. I think
