Now lets not try to be too much of an arsehole about this, but we’ve all woken up with someone we don’t want to wake up next to. Well maybe you haven’t and maybe you’re a total angel, but I’m not. There is always that moment where it takes a few second to dawn on you exactly what happened last night, roll over and realise with horror you can’t remember the name of the person who you don’t want in your bed. Then you have to try and get your arm back and somehow orchestrate an exit strategy. This wasn’t one of those times.
By the same token you know you like someone when you reach for them in the morning, disregarding your foul am breath. That’s how I measure it anyway. Is that all guys? Is it girls? I don’t know. I counts for something for me anyway. The downside is when they’re the one pulling away and making the excuses. This wasn’t one of those times either.
Of course I fail to check out in time, but still manage to get the bags in storage and hand over the key. Paddy and myself are laughing and joking about the whole night for much of the day through a hazy cloudy hangover. Yet once again night turns in to day and we find ourselves checking back in, particularly as the girls are not leaving yet either. It’s also a ‘rock legends’ night at the hostel bar, and as I’ve managed to get a loan of a leather jacket; my kilt, sunglasses and bandanna sets me up to go as Axel Rose without breaking a sweat. We’re in the zone now, second day on it, and before long Paddy is dancing on the bar doing a Bono impression. It’s a matter of time until we hit Groove and back to the scene of the crime, only I’m happy to report it was nowhere near as debaucerous as last time.
